Christ the Lord is Risen Today

I wrote this arrangement a couple months before I left on my mission.  I wrote it in a week, learned it the next week then performed it in church.  I definitely had help in writing in.  At one point I was stuck not knowing how to modulate to the final section.  So I was sitting on a chair at my house wondering what to do and suddenly I heard in my head what is now the transition to the last verse.  It quotes a hymn; see if you can figure it out.

This is my testimony in music that Christ lives.  He conquered death and sin and paved the way so that all mankind may be saved.  He lives, and because he lives we too will all live.

A preliminary recording of my piano arrangement of one of my favorite hymns.  This is me playing the piano using my new handy dandy H2 recorder.  I wrote this from 2008-09.

Loch Lomond

In high school I did an arrangement of the traditional tune Loch Lomond.  I was pleased with it and apparently so was the Capriccio Brass, a tuba/euphonium quartet based in England.  They adapted my trio arrangement for two euphoniums and tuba.  They do an excellent job.  This is from a live concert.

Nearer, My God, To Thee

I've decided to use this blog to showcase some of the music I've worked on. This is an arrangement of the hymn Nearer, My God, To Thee for piano and viola. Sorry for the quality of the sound. I haven't made a real recording of this yet. This is just what my music program puts out. Hope you enjoy it.

Amazon Music

Amazon is a good place for finding some pretty good music deals. Every month there are 100 new mp3 albums for only $5 a piece. Well, this month there are 1,000 including Coldplay, Lady Gaga and a bunch of other groups from all different genres. I'm having a hard time choosing between a few different ones including a recording of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, This is War by 30 Seconds to Mars and a Relient K album... I'll probably end up getting them all anyway. Hope you enjoy.
